This is one of the reasons why I bought Monster Hunter Tri and Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Wii. For the record, I think you could make fun of the worst current trends, but considering that game flash is over saturated; I wouldn't be surprised that you'd put it off for a while. By the way, I know one guy on ConceptArt.org who sees where you're coming from. (Look the Exclusive Sketchbooks section of the forum and click where it says Arne.)
Gaming needs more Splosion mans.
nice to see atleast some people are noticing too, playing mass effect 2 again recently and when the people go from :D to :| instantly, it breaks me from the emmersion of the game, these are little bugs that the QA's are not telling the game creators about for some fucked up reason and the quality of games the last 5-10 years has gone down hill fast (fuck you bobby cotec) and i dont see it slowwing down as long there is the general population of people who own consoles buying everything and anything, not careing that they just spent $110 on a game that is only going to last 5 hours single player and doesnt even have dedicated servers for online play, EVEN THOUGH YOU NEED TO PAY FOR ACCESSING THE INTERNET ON THE STUPID THINGS, WHAT ACCESS AM I PAYING FOR IF THEY CANT EVEN HOST THE FUCKING SERVER AND I HAVE TO CHEW THROUGH 200MB AN HOUR OF MY NET JUST SO I CAN RAPE SOME NUBS?
LOL!
Sengoku Basara ftw, watching the anime rite nao.
To be honest, I don't care about the characters. Ok, I don't care about the characters THAT MUCH. They never made sense to me. I find that a story is one of the most enjoyable parts of a game now-er-dayz. Yeah, it makes it a bit more of an interactive film, but I enjoy it in any case. Heavy Rain was a brilliant game because of this.
ur right
I don't think you understand the media. These games appeal to 10 year old kids who still think Naruto is cool. Any game that isn't pay to play or needed money to play is absolute shit and garbage, and we all fucking know it too. We just try to make excuses at people who play WoW or Guild Wars, in reailty, your probably playing some shitty client game that looks like it was designed and coded by an amputee.
You could actually make a forum thread for sticking lively expressions on bland-faced characters.
Don't judge games on some $3 Dynasty Warriors shit, jeez!
+I don't get ads for this samurai thing, I get Battlefield Heroes n Flyff.
HEY EGORAPTOR READ MY COMMENT!!!1one
Duuuude you're the one missing the point they just all have a cliché quite badass personalities isn't that interesting and unique? (sarcastic/rhetorical)
Also I noticed heavy rain was mentioned earlier and to all you folks with PS3's or friends with PS3's I strongly recommend that you go play that game. If you can figure out who the origami killer is before it's revealed in the game I'll give you a dollar or make you something when I don't suck or something.
Egoraptor...
...
...I love you.
You should make an Awesome cartoon called "Sengoku Basarawesome".
When is the Egoraptor game coming out?
Never played Sengoku Basara so I can't comment on these four scoobies, but I DO appreciate a good and interesting story with video games as the medium. I'll agree that fun gameplay should absolutely come before ALL else, but at the same time I think it's cool that games are being used as another way of showing cool writing and characters. I've not played a MGS game before but I know enough about the story to be totally intrigued; you have a huge appreciation for those games so I'm sure you get it far more than I would.
I can almost kinda see where you're coming from, but the alternative you're talking about is just as common, and it can be equally irritating. The obligation for everyone to have a kooky look, or to always wear their characteristic expression on their sleeve is sort of a cheaper way of character building. Fact of the matter is, dull facial expressions are more realistic. We have deeper ways to convey a character's nature, particularly through story, which you're oddly dismissing. You can find all kinds of emotive expressions with nothing under them on the cover of a Mario Party game, but it gets tiresome. Very, very tiresome.
Yeah you're right about that, but in my opinion it's just bad form to show off these characters who are supposed to be interesting and exciting and yet they're all on prozac

Does it really matter man? Some are good and inspiring and others are just plain s**t.
Simple.
